About
My name is Helenna Nobler and I am the founder of Hope For China Dogs Rescue. I have been actively involved in rescuing dogs from China for the last 5+ years. I am a Chinese national, and an American citizen. Over the years I’ve spent a lot of time in China, and have witnessed the inhumane treatment of helpless dogs there. Once I saw these horrific things, I couldn’t erase the images from my head. I just had to do something about it, which is why I chose to embark on the mission to make a difference in the lives of these dogs, to the best of my ability.
I have devoted all of my time and money to this work, and up to this point, I have funded everything myself. I am very grateful to the rest of the team and all of our volunteers that work tirelessly to help run HFCDR, which enables me to focus my time and energy in the field, saving helpless dogs by bringing them to the US and Canada and to find them loving forever homes.
Our Mission
At Hope for China Dogs, we are committed to combating the cruel and inhumane practice of the dog meat trade in China.
We believe that every dog deserves to live a life free from pain and suffering, and we are dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating dogs who have been victims of this trade.
Our mission is to provide a safe haven for these dogs, promote education and awareness about the dog meat trade, and advocate for its abolition.
We work closely with our partners in China to rescue dogs from slaughterhouses, meat markets & trucks, and other dangerous situations, and bring them to immediate safety in China.
From there we address any immediate medical needs, and begin the process of flying them to the US and Canada where we find their loving forever homes.

Since 2017, we have rescued over 1032 dogs, and counting!
Through our work, we save lives, end suffering, and bring happiness to dogs and humans. We ultimately hope to bring an end to the dog meat trade and create a more compassionate world for all dogs and all animals.

Why Adopt From Us
At Hope For China Dogs Rescue we believe that every dog, regardless of where they are in the world deserves a healthy life filled with love and happiness.
While we recognize that there are many dogs in the US that are also in need of help, we simply can’t turn a blind eye and allow the suffering that is imposed upon these innocent animals in China; especially when we have the power to make a difference.

In China, pedigree dogs in particular are illegally overbred. The end result is that there are more dogs than there are people available to buy/adopt them. The breeders with an overabundance of pedigree dogs seek to make a profit however they can, so whatever dogs they cannot sell, they offload to meat traders. Yes, Golden Retrievers, Labradoodles, Huskies (you name it) end up on meat trucks - a horrific and cruel fate for the dog, not the least of which includes the horrendous journey on the truck.
It’s important to note that some people may be very attached to a particular breed of dog, and instead of going to a breeder, by choosing to adopt from us they are a part of the solution…
and literally, saving lives.

We are in desperate need of fosters!
Since we don't have a physical location for our rescue, we depend on people opening up their homes to care for our dogs until before they find their forever homes.
Even if you have a time limit for how long you would be able to foster, please contact us anyway.
We could not do what we do without you!

The Dogs' Journey
The journey begins when a dog in need is found by one of our many wonderful volunteers across China. Our volunteers are relentless in their work, intercepting meat trucks, rescuing dogs on the street or from any other bad situation they may find. They reach out to Hope For China Dogs Rescue in the US to see if we are able to help. We help as much as we can, but practically speaking, there is only so much we can do. If we are able to help, the dog is brought to our volunteer based facility in rural China, where they are safe and provided food, water and medical attention if needed.
From there, we begin the journey to transport each dog from the safe haven in China to either Canada or Los Angeles. The journey, as you might expect, is complex and costly. This is why our adoption fees are higher than most others. At the same time, we only aim to recover some of the costs associated with travel through adoption fees, and supplement the rest with donations. Once the dogs arrive safely in North America, we begin marketing and sharing on social media and through word of mouth to find them fosters and forever homes.
Happy Adopters!
Our Supporters
We wish to extend our most sincere gratitude and acknowledge these organizations who have been there to support us with our mission in so many meaningful ways, including…
Providing emergency shelter and grooming services
Donating supplies
Assisting with rescue, foster, and adoption efforts
And especially our rescue partners who have covered the costs of bringing dogs to the US and provided assistance in finding them forever homes.

We are forever grateful to our Supporters, without their generosity, we would not have been able to achieve what we have so far.
We look forward to continuing to work together to end the meaningless suffering of dogs, save lives, and to bring lasting happiness to dogs and humans.
